Improving Localization Process at Tektronix

Learn about Tektronix’s technical authoring, localization and publishing workflow based on XML and XLIFF.

This presentation was given by Tektronix's XML Information Architect Bryan Schnabel and Moravia's Anette Hauswirth at Localization World conference in Seattle, WA, in 2007. It describes a practical application of a technical authoring, localization and publishing workflow that was jointly developed between Tektronix, Inc., a leading supplier of test, measurement, and monitoring products, and Moravia Worldwide.

It is based on open standards such as XML and XLIFF (XML Localization Interchange File Format) and provides a single source/multiple target file solution connecting technical writers, translators and publishers in a streamlined process.

This process uses customized deployment of industry standard tools such as Arbortext Epic Editor. It involved the development of specific extensions which utilize the benefits of the XLIFF-enhanced XML files throughout.

The whole operation is future-proof, scalable, and deployable across geographic locations thanks to its framework based on open standards. The major benefit of this solution lies in the way document translation is managed in XML.
