Moravia provides corporations with two key Machine Translation solutions that address a broad range of possible production applications of MT today: an array of linguistic MT post-editing services, and a comprehensive MT deployment solution.

With this service we enable companies to implement and maintain a customized Machine Translation solution - hosted by Moravia or at the client's site - regardless of whether Moravia provides related post-editing services or not.

Deployment customization typically includes Moravia's MT knowledge, as well as specific linguistic expertise for any given language that is required to train and/or customize the MT engine via user dictionaries, translation memories and legacy content alignment. Once the set-up is complete, the MT engine will require ongoing customization and maintenance, which can be arranged as a managed service.

A typical first step in assessing the potential of MT for a specific customer is conducting a pilot project. Done always jointly with our clients, the objective of a pilot project is to assess if, in the current setup, MT can be deployed in real life production; how this meets the specific expectations in terms of quality, cost and productivity; and what the best production process should be.

In line with our MT post-editing services, Moravia can build an MT infrastructure and solution for clients to address specific needs:

Machine Translation as a productivity enhancement tool, integrated into clients' standard translation process, with a post-editing step included, either "full" or "light."
An automatic on-demand Machine Translation solution, which clients will use directly to obtain machine-translated text. This includes building an online MT interface. Unlike free MT engines available on the Internet, this customized MT solution builds on corporate terminology, industry glossaries and is integrated with the customer's infrastructure in a secure way.

The specific elements of our MT deployment services are as follows:

1. MT Selection and Setup

Analysis of the current translation corpus available.
Analysis of the current translation process environment.
Selection of the most appropriate MT engine - Rules Based MT (RBMT) or Statistical Machine Translation (SMT), or a hybrid model.
MT pilot runs and deployment
Development of the optimum process of workflow for Machine Translation, including integration with any third-party applications, tools, workflow or translation systems.
Selection of the most appropriate methodology for measuring and scoring MT output quality.

2. Customization and Maintenance

Customization of the MT engine - via existing translation memories and glossaries, specific domain dictionaries.
Development of customer-specific dictionaries, typically based on alignment of translated documents, term extraction from bilingual corpus and validation.
Reviewing and improving dictionaries and iteratively checking quality in a regular upgrade cycle.
Developing strict post-editing guidelines, which are necessary for successful use of an MT system.
Setup of automatic clean-up of raw MT output before it goes to post-editing.
Pre-editing of the content prior to MT - source content control authoring support. Ensuring compliance with generic grammar rules and terminology, and customizing to instill specific corporate style rules and to prepare source content better for MT processing.

3. Integration

Integration of the MT engine into the overall translation process.
Integration of Machine Translation into a GMS or TMS system. This integration results in a hybrid translation environment where each MT output segment is a TM input segment, and goes through the standard translation editing process.
Establishment of an online interface for the automatic MT solution.
