Moravia Becomes Gold Sponsor for Translators without Borders

Support helps organization fund humanitarian linguistic projects, aid

Brno, Czech Republic - June 25, 2012

Moravia Worldwide, one of the world’s leading globalization solution providers, has become a Gold Sponsor of Translators without Borders. Empowering the transfer of knowledge from one language to another, Translators without Borders provides free humanitarian translations for charities and communities that need these services but lack sufficient resources to fund them.

Since the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010, Translators without Borders has been stepping up efforts to provide humanitarian translations to aid groups; not just in Haiti, but also to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working across the globe in disaster relief, healthcare, and education.

Lori Thicke, co-founder of Translators without Borders, said the financial support provided by sponsors is critical to sustaining and growing the organization, particularly in areas where under-resourced languages are spoken. "In the course of our work, we've become aware of a huge global need for people in poor countries to be able to access global knowledge in their own language," she explained.

“According to UNICEF more people die from lack of knowledge than from diseases."

“According to UNICEF more people die from lack of knowledge than from diseases. People in many countries are simply unable to access global knowledge in a language they understand. Mobile technology may be bringing this knowledge closer to the bottom three billion, but we still need to bridge the ‘language last mile’. Translators without Borders is developing a scalable training program to enable many more people to access the knowledge they need in a language they understand.”

Renato Beninatto, Chief Marketing Officer of Moravia and a board member of Translators without Borders, said, “In times of need, the focus may not always be on communication, but we believe it plays a pivotal role in finding lasting solutions. We’re extremely proud to sponsor such a worthy cause.”

Thicke added, “We are incredibly grateful to Moravia for this assistance, which is critical in enabling support for more humanitarian work around the globe.”
