Sr. Linguistic Services Manager - Global

The Sr. Linguistic Services Manager (LSM) takes responsibility for delivering language services that delight the end customer. The successful candidate will have a passion for detail and making deadlines, and by guiding the team effectively, will lead them to produce translations that exceed expectations. Being driven by data, the Sr. LSM candidate will demonstrate compliance and improvements in numbers, and is empowered to proactively challenge the status quo. The successful Sr. LSM will communicate effectively with peers, management, and client counterparts, and will be focused on the brand voice and the future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a virtual group of Moravia freelance QA providers and language experts: identification, qualification, contracting, rate negotiations, training, support and evaluation
  • Create/implement corporate linguistic quality management in the appointed field: linguistic quality management concept, linguistic QA methodology and policies
  • Provide expert linguistic support to Moravia’s project teams: translation tools, glossary creation, terminology management, query support, style guide preparation, training for project team members
  • Provide linguistic support to Moravia’s localization partners: instructions on terminology and style, monitor query and QA management processes; provide trainings, evaluations, feedback, improvement solutions
  • Provide linguistic services for Moravia’s customers: help design customer-tailored linguistic concepts and strategies; act as the contact point in communications related to linguistic quality, terminology and style; perform customer feedback analysis and suggest improvement solutions
  • Perform research on localization/language-related QA concepts, methodologies, tools, automation; design and implement corporate-wide solutions
  • Participate in the test translation/pilot process intended to acquire new accounts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of terminology management and other linguistic tools
  • CAT tool knowledge: SDL 2011 Professional Edition, Trados Studio 2011/2014, MemoQ, Memsource, Idiom World Server, Symfonie, XTM
  • Advance knowledge of translation/localization environment
  • Fluent in English; additional language knowledge a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of analytics tools such as Pivot tables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint
  • Strong management, organizational, communication and negotiation skills

Education and/or Experience

  • University degree in Translation OR proven experience in managing language-specific areas of localization projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
  • Required: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Linguistic Services Manager or similar linguistic role
  • Proven experience in translation and review
  • Experience in retail and manufacturing industries
  • Experience in computer linguistics preferred
